desultory [dĕs′əl-tôr″ē] – (adj.) marked by lack of definite plan, regularity, or purpose.
A “desultor” was a rider in a 16th century circus that jumped from horse to horse. It is used as this company’s name ironically, since we favor games where clever planning is part of the game’s appeal.
The desultory publishing effort comes from a frustration with the modern pipeline of designer-driven ideas. With the tools available to creators today, there are ways to get unique ideas to their core audience easier than ever before.
The desultory brand stands for the following:
- Games that put the player(s) in charge of the game dynamics.
- Games that don’t underestimate players or shoot for lowest common denominators.
- Honest, authentic, straightforward games with honest, authentic, straightforward campaigns.
